Background information
The Canadian Military Pattern truck was a class of military vehicles produced in Canada during World War II. During the war, almost 400,000 copies of this class rolled off the assembly line. The vehicles were mainly produced in factories of American car manufacturers in Canada, largely according to British designs. The vehicles have been used by British and Commonwealth forces in almost all theaters of war.
Of all trucks produced in Canada, CMPs accounted for approximately 50%. The most common CMP was the 4×4 truck with a maximum permitted payload of 3 tons (including the C60S, C60L, F60S and F60L models). 209,000 units of this version were manufactured. Furthermore, approximately 9,500 4×4 chassis were used for the construction of armored personnel carriers.
The C60L (L for long) 4x4 had a 158 inch wheelbase and a maximum permitted payload of 3 tons. This variant was used as an ambulance. Other variants were used as a tanker, mobile office or as a radio car.
