Background information

In 1912, the US Army placed an order for new trucks for various purposes. The requirements were a loading capacity of 3 tons and they also had to be able to tow trailers or guns. Four Wheel Drive Company developed the Model B truck and this model was suitable for adapting to military requirements.

Although the model now looks primitive, at the time it was a design that left several competitors behind. The chassis was equipped with a loading platform over which a tarpaulin could be placed. In 1915, the British company Vickers designed a new model howitzer with a caliber of 8 inches (20.32 cm). The firing range of this howitzer was 10 kilometers.

The combination of this new truck and howitzer was an important addition to the US Army.
